—John Keats, Endymion (1818)A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
At the corner of Idmiston Road, Stratford, E London, there used to stand a little hut that was the home to Stratford Spiritualist Church. It was the place to which I was guided on Sunday 13 December 1992, the day that marked the birth of my embracement of Spiritualism as my faith (or, more correctly, part of my faith). Sadly the building is now gone. I used to go there on Tuesday evenings for healing – and my favourite healer was John Philps. One day, as he was saying an opening prayer, he mentioned these words of wisdom:
Truth never changes. Only our perception of it changes as our souls progress to higher spiritual realms. But Truth itself never changes.
Or words to that effect. To this day, this jewel of a message is still as strong with me as it was when I first heard John utter them.
—Tuscan proverbNessuna meraviglia dura più di tre giorni.
(No wonder lasts more than three days.)
I just made that one up.Life is like English grammar. While you may be tense about the future because the past was irregular, at least enjoy the mood today because the present is perfect.
From the film The House of the Spirits (1993), said by the character Clara del Valle (Meryl Streep) to her daughter Blanca Trueba (Winona Ryder). You must fight to live, for life is a miracle.
Antes de morirme quiero echar mis versos del alma.
