The Brontë sisters Empty The Brontë sisters

The Brontë sisters grew up in Haworth Parsonage, Yorkshire, not Asthall Manor, Oxfordshire – as one contestant on today’s edition of “The Chase” on ITV ought to be ashamed of himself for not knowing!

Also the diaeresis on the name “Brontë” should be over the letter e, not the letter o! People just do not seem to be very literate these days. Mad

Emily Brontë: How she inspired Kate Bush, Sylvia Plath, Lily Cole and more

The author was born on 30 July 1818 in Thornton, near Bradford, and would go on to write just one novel before her death 30 years later.

    That novel was Wuthering Heights.

Two hundred years on, Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights still means so much to so many readers – with the work continuing to inspire other artists.
