As those which Shakespeare famously did write.
Fourteen iambic lines may not be much,
But they speak all, from sorrow to delight.
Look closely at each sonnet Shakespeare penned:
First come three quatrains of alternate rhyme,
And then we have a couplet at the end.
The Bard observed this format every time.
A Wordsworth sonnet, on the other hand,
Rhymes differently. But one thing should be clear:
All sonnet writers love the sonnet, and
Proclaim its greatness for the world to hear!
“Scorn not the sonnet!” was what Wordsworth wrote.
It’s something I too would like to promote!
